REMMY VALENZUELA goes back to his roots with MI GUITARRA Y YO, a project that takes him back to the moment he first began singing with a guitar in hand. It’s less a return to the early years of his career than a return to the instrument that sparked his love of music and now gives this new chapter its meaning.
The release comes after seven years without a studio album. In that time, though, fans never stopped listening: his catalog continues to draw strong streaming numbers, and his extensive tour of Mexico underscores the bond he maintains with his audience. MI GUITARRA Y YO opens a new chapter for an artist who has remained a constant presence on stage and in his fans’ lives.
In this first installment, REMMY presents an EP born of the need to express and release what he feels. The songs move through romance, heartbreak, and nostalgia, and reflect on the passage of time, what a career leaves behind, and what changes while the music endures.
The EP features five songs: “Todas Las Flores,” the single, which is already out; “Decisión Tomada,” the focus track; “Te Estoy Aclarando,” “Ya Déjate de Cosas,” and “Si Fuiste Mi Bebé.”
The project’s sound centers on sierreño arrangements, tubas, and stripped-back instrumentation that gives the songs room to breathe. The accordion is notably absent, a conceptual choice that runs throughout the entire project and nods to the days when REMMY first started singing with his guitar.
MI GUITARRA Y YO becomes an exercise in memory, revisiting the stories and emotions gathered along the way.
In October, REMMY VALENZUELA sold out all three shows at the Palenque during the Fiestas de Octubre. Upcoming dates include Nov. 7 in Morelia, Nov. 15 in Querétaro and Nov. 20 in Saltillo, followed by Dec. 4 in Veracruz and Dec. 5 in Tuxtla Gutiérrez.
This exciting new chapter will surely resonate with REMMY VALENZUELA’s fans everywhere.
